In social studies we have been working on this humongo project. It is for a competition called National History Day. Students make a project (a exhibet, website, documentary, a paper or others) that connects with the theme. The theme this year is Innovations in History, or something like that. My teacher said that we could chose whatever topic we wanted as long as in related to the theme. We could also work with partners if we wanted. I decided to work with a partner and our topic is the ice cream cone. For our project we made a website. We are not done with it yet but if I must say, it is pretty awesome. The site is http://www.icekreamkone.weebly.com/ if you would like to visit it.
The project is huge! We had to have at least 10 primary and 10 secondary sources. That is alot of sources! For those of you who don't know the difference between a primary and a secondary source, a primary source is basiccly something right from the horses mouth. It came directly from the inventor. A secondary source is something written by someone who wasn't there when the event happened. Please visit our website!

Random-ness
I have been so busy with school and synchro practice lately I have had no time to blog. I will try to start blogging again. I have been buried in homework mostly from social studies. When we have a social studies test, I actually have to study for it! Which is kind of surprising. I don't really ever study for my math or science tests and I always get a 100% or above! But then again....on our social studies tests we have 50 questions. I hate tests. And homework. I hate tests and homework so much! But I guess it is a fact of life. In english we are writing a different essay every week! I hate writing essays. Hard workouts are a becoming a daily routine. Well on the days I have synchro at least. Every day we strech for a while, get in, do a workout, then go to music or do figures. I love synchro! I got an iPod touch! I absolutley love it. It is everything I ever hoped for. It does not hold a battery for very long. Or maybe that is just me. When I play on it it is always for a long time! I have 7 pages of apps on it and also the movie Twilight and the audio-book The Hunger Games. I just bought that book today from the book fair. You should read it. It is kind of a strange book but it is really good. I also bought a mechanical eraser and 3 highlighters that smell like bubblegum. One is grape, one is watermelon and one is normal bubblegum. They smell so good. The colors are green, purple and pink. It seems wierd but I have never actually had a highlighter before. I love my much needed mechanical eraser! It is like a mechanical pencil but with and eraser. I needed it because all of my mechanical pencils have no erasers left on it. So yeah. Now you can probably see why I called this post Random-ness. Haha! It was really just the past few months all mushed up together in one post!

Back to the Rut!
Summer is over and now I am back in that old school, synchro, homework rut again. So far every day I have had English homework and math homework. Math homework is not very hard. It is all review. Today we are doing order of operations. In English we have been having vocab homework. The day before yesterday we had to draw pictures that represented the words and yesterday we had to write each word three times each. Sort of boring huh? Yesterday I had synchro practice. Our land workout was not so bad but water was. We had to do a sprint there, sprint no breath back eight times in a row! Then instead of 100 backstroak I thought my coach said under backstroak! So I'm like, but wait, that's not right, you can't make us do an under right after we did sprint no breaths! Ha ha! Then we did a ton of eggbeater laps. When you are doing double arm eggbeater you feel like you're being buried under the weight of your arms! After that, amazingly, we got out. Me and my friends could not feel our legs!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Tomorow school is starting! I am so excited! And nevous! Yesterday I went shoe shopping. It was very fun. I got a pair of tennis shoes and a really cute pair of flats. They are bright pink! I love them! New student orientation was today. I am not as nervous anymore about school starting. We got to walk around and find our classes and meet our teachers. I found my classes on time except one! Yay! Hopefully tomorow I won't get lost. I am riding the bus with my friend and she said she'd walk me to my first class. Thank you Sara!

Synchro, Towels and More
Hi. I am so sorry I have not blogged in awhile. First I went to a synchronized swim cometition called nationals and my team placed 4th out of 30 of the best teams in the nation. Then we went to Puerto Rico. It was not much fun. The streets were dirty and cracked. The food was horrible. The first night we ate at a horrid restaurant where there was slow service. My dad got a native dish called Mofungo and it tasted like thanksgiving stuffing. yuck! So we don't like the food there. Oh well! In Puerto we stayed at a resort and they made a little towel bunny for us. It was so cute! I don't know if you can tell what it is from the picture at the top. There was also a pig, a monkey, a elephant, a swan and a couple of dogs. They were amazing. The beach there was nice. There were beautiful white sand beaches and clear bright blue water. I went parasailing! It was so cool! We went over coral reefs most of the time and I was just a little bit scared that the rope would come untied and I would fall and cut myself on the coral reefs. On top of all that I would kill a whole buch of coral. Right now I am in Georgia at Tracy's house, visiting for a week or two. Molly and Mackenzie are like the cutest kids. Scott and Tracy are fun and awesome to talk to. Today we made cookies. Yum!

Nationals
Soon my synchro team will be leaving for Nationals. Nationals is a synchronized swim meet with teams from all over the US. 8 girls, 2 chaperones, and 2 coaches all piling up on an airplane and heading across the country. I am way excited for the plane ride. No feeling has quite sunk in yet about the competition. My team will be competing against 30 other teams. Wow! When we walk through the airport you will for sure be able to tell that we are a team. We will all be wearing our Aqua Star pants, Aqua Star jackets and a plain white shirt underneath. We will all have our hair up and tied with ribbon. And we will all be wearing closed toed shoes. I'm wearing my new poka-dotted converse! When we get there we will have dinner then go straight to bed. The next day we will get to have a practice swim through of team. The day after we will be swimming our routine for the judges. If our team places in the top 8, we will get to go on to figures the next day and Finals the day after. There are so many people there, you have to wait an hour between figures. I cannot really explain what a figure is. I guess it is like ballet's first position in the water. Yeah, good job Maddy that's a good way to describe it. Then on the day after we will be at Finals. Finals is when the top 8 teams compete against each other and that's how you can move your score up or down a place. Then there is awards! They have little boxes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. There is flowers and pictures and everything. After awards even though it is like 9:00 at night we go out for the Championship dinner. Cool, right?

Synchro
Hey, this picture is for all you people who do not know what synchronized swim is or even what it looks like. Picture this, a dancer in the water with the strenth of a swimmer and the grace of ballet. Put it all together with someone who can swim a 25 meter underwater without coming up for a breath and you have synchro. Synchro, well i cannot really desribe what synchro looks like. You have to see for yourself. Here are some pictures of Olympic swimmers showing off the sport they love.
